Warranty

Warranty on reconditioned gearboxes.

2-year warranty with no mileage limit.

The gearbox is not filled with gearbox oil upon collection (it is ‘dry’). The gearbox must be filled with the quantity of oil specified by MSM technic.

1. It is essential to strictly follow the instructions regarding the quantity and type of gearbox oil when filling the components after assembly. All our components are supplied dry. Filling them with less oil than specified may result in accelerated wear and tear, or even complete destruction. Failure to comply with the above instructions will invalidate the warranty.

2. Car components directly connected to the gearbox must be thoroughly cleaned before installation to prevent metal filings or contaminants from entering the gearbox or causing leaks.

3. We recommend replacing the clutch and flywheel at the same time, if their condition so requires, to ensure a long service life for the gearbox.

4. For the first 100 km after installation, it is recommended to avoid abrupt gear changes. The gearbox oil should be changed every 60,000 km.

5. The warranty is transferred to third parties in the event of the vehicle being sold.

6. The warranty does not apply to a gearbox fitted in a vehicle used by a car hire company or a taxi firm.

The warranty will be void as a result of:

  • internal tampering with the component without authorisation from MSM Technic,
  • fitting a standard flywheel in a vehicle designed for a dual-mass flywheel,
  • filling the gearbox with a quantity of gearbox oil differing from that specified in the warranty and on the information label affixed to the component,
  • incorrect installation.

The warranty does not cover:

  • costs associated with the vehicle failing to start,
  • costs of fitting/removal at external service centres,
  • the cost of hiring a replacement vehicle,
  • commercial losses,
  • the costs of the replacement service and the cost of the gearbox oil,
  • costs associated with the transport of the gearbox, final drive or differential subject to a warranty claim,
  • cases of mechanical modifications to the engine or drivetrain, e.g. engine swaps, custom modifications incompatible with the vehicle identification number (VIN), incorrect wheel sizes,
  • cases of software modifications to the power unit or drivetrain, known as ‘chip tuning’, e.g. changes to gearbox programmes/calibration, fuel injection maps or turbocharger boost pressure,
  • cases where the vehicle has been used for motorsport or racing, where components are subject to excessive wear and tear,
  • damage resulting from improper use, installation or external damage caused by a collision (accident),
  • a gearbox fitted in a vehicle operated by a car hire company or a taxi firm,
  • situations where the gearbox is sold as a replacement and the old (worn-out) gearbox is not delivered to MSM Technic — the warranty becomes void due to the buyer’s failure to comply with the terms of the transaction.

In the event of any fault or defect becoming apparent during the operation of the aforementioned gearbox, the Buyer is entitled to a repair, replacement or refund for the gearbox in question, subject to the costs and circumstances set out in the points above.

The time taken to assess and repair the gearbox subject to a complaint is up to 24 hours, counting from the day the gearbox is delivered to the seller’s workshop.
